About EDGE Asset Management
EDGE AMC Limited is an asset management company in Bangladesh that manages mutual funds and separately managed accounts for institutions, high-net-worth individuals and retail investors. It was set up to offer local investors the kind of long-term, research-driven fund management that global funds use in Bangladesh.
The company received its asset management license from the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) in February 2018. It launched its first fund, EDGE Bangladesh Mutual Fund, in August 2018 and now manages four mutual funds with over BDT 2.2 billion in assets.
Investment philosophy
EDGE Asset Management follows research-driven, long-term, high-conviction investing. From roughly 360 listed companies in Bangladesh, it selects 10 to 15 businesses it is willing to hold through market cycles.
- 01
Governance first
Companies are screened on promoter track record, treatment of minority shareholders and auditor quality before earnings or valuation are considered.
- 02
Business quality
Shortlisted companies need predictable cash flows, sustainable growth and a clear competitive advantage.
- 03
Valuation and conviction
Capital goes into the 10 to 15 companies with the largest gap between intrinsic value and market price, sized to the margin of safety.
- 04
Long-term holding
Positions are typically held for three years or more, even if that means lagging a rising market in the short term.
- 05
Dynamic allocation
When equity valuations look stretched, more of the portfolio moves into fixed income.
- 06
Management co-investment
EDGE’s management team invests its own money in EDGE funds alongside investors.
