Investing shouldn't be harder than saving

Bini is a marketplace for mutual funds in Bangladesh. Compare funds from several asset management companies, invest from your phone and track everything in one place. Your money goes straight to the fund, never to Bini.

What is Bini?

Bini is a marketplace for mutual funds. You can open a BO account, compare funds from several asset management companies, invest as a monthly SIP or a one-time amount and track your holdings, all from one app.

Bini does not run any funds of its own. Every fund on Bini is managed by a licensed asset management company, so you are choosing between them rather than being sold one.

Why Bini exists

Most people here keep their money in the same few savings products their parents used, because those were the only options within reach.

Mutual funds have been available in Bangladesh for years. Finding them was the hard part. Fund information sat scattered across separate websites, buying meant paperwork at an office and comparing two funds side by side was close to impossible for a normal person.

None of that is a problem with the products. It is a problem with access. That is the part Bini works on.

Where your money goes

Bini never holds your money. It moves from your bank account to the fund, and the units are registered in your name.

  1. Step 1

You pay from your own bank account

For a SIP the AMC pulls the amount on your chosen date. For a one-time investment you transfer it yourself.

  2. Step 2

The money reaches the fund's bank account

Bini passes on your instruction and the paperwork. The money does not pass through Bini at any point.

  3. Step 3

    The AMC invests it

The fund's assets are held by a custodian bank approved by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission.

  4. Step 4

Your units sit in your BO account

The BO account is opened in your name by a partner brokerage house, so your holdings stay yours even if you stop using Bini.

Selling works the same way in reverse. The AMC transfers the money straight to your registered bank account, and it does not pass through Bini then either.

How Bini makes money

Bini is an agent partner of the asset management companies whose funds it distributes. When you invest through Bini, the AMC shares a part of its management fee with us. You pay nothing extra.

How that works in practice

Say an AMC charges a 2% management fee. Invest directly and you pay that 2%, invest through Bini and you pay exactly the same 2%, then the AMC shares a part of it with Bini. Using Bini costs you nothing on top.

Bini also charges ৳ 99 for each sell request, whatever the amount. Sell units worth ৳ 10,000 and you pay ৳ 99. Sell units worth ৳ 10,00,000 and you still pay ৳ 99. That charge covers the cost of keeping the selling process digital and hassle free.

What Bini does and does not do

Bini does

  • Open your BO account through a partner brokerage

  • Verify your documents once, for every fund

  • Show fund returns, holdings and costs side by side

  • Place your buy and sell instructions with the AMC

  • Track all your holdings in one portfolio

Bini does not

  • Manage any fund or pick stocks

  • Hold or move your money

  • Promise a return, since all of these are market linked

  • Charge you anything extra to invest

  • Sell your data to anyone
